7 tips for hosting better webinars

The big thing that pharma marketeers forget about hosting webinars, is the opportunity to engage your customers before and after the event.

Here are our 7 tips for hosting and promoting a good webinar:

1. ASK FOR INPUT
Ask potential audience members what they hope to get out of the event. Ask for input on topics, speakers, formats, etc. This provides not only valuable insights, but also secures the first handful of participants.

2. BRING IN YOUR COLLEAGUES
Ask all your customer-facing colleagues how they would like to be involved in promoting the webinar. What kind of communication assets would they need?

3. START THE DISCUSSION EARLY
Use email and social media to kick-start the discussions. Ask questions. But don’t ask questions you know the answer to. (Big mistake! But a common mistake.) Ask questions about topics that are on the agenda.

4. LET THE SPEAKERS INTRODUCE THE EVENT
Have your key speakers make short videos about why this webinar will be something special. Distribute these videos by email, on your website and via social media.

5. PLAN POST-EVENT CONTENT
Plan to develop good spin-off products from the events that will add value for the participants or other customers who were unable to attend. Examples of spin-off products include slide decks, webinar recordings, speaker interviews, white papers, etc.

6. INVOLVE THE REGULATORY TEAM EARLY
If you plan to create post-event content, it’s essential to involve your regulatory team from the start. Make a clear plan for what you want to produce and how you intend to share it. Have the regulatory team review these plans and ensure your speakers are briefed on what they can and can’t say, as well as any documentation requirements.

7. YOUR NEXT EVENT
Your webinar is going to be a success. Be sure to have the date for your next event ready to share during or immediately after the webinar. If you don’t have the registration page ready, ask customers to send you an email if they would like to attend.
